Most movement classes invite you to simply follow along. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that — but this class offers something different.
There are no reps, no sets, and no perfect shape we are striving for.
Instead, the invitation is to experience movement differently.
Think of this class as a movement lab, where the goal is to learn the language and intelligence of your unique body while honouring all of your lived experiences.
Wherever you are, is where you begin. Over time, you become your own best teacher.
The emphasis is quality over quantity.
We move slower, smaller, and often in ways that may initially feel unfamiliar.
It can be easy to move hard and fast to get from Point A to Point B, but in doing so we often miss the signals our body may be sending — messages that say:
"Something here needs to happen differently."
There is a tremendous amount of information that exists in the journey between A and B, and in this series you will learn how to recognize that information and understand what it is communicating.
When there is no forcing, bracing, or pushing through, the brain and nervous system begin to turn down their protective responses. Only then can tension and pain decrease and new movement patterns be traine
Ease emerges from movement....and movement emerges from ease.
Most of us were never taught how to listen to the language and intelligence of our body. The beautiful thing is that it is never too late to learn. We can continue to grow, change, heal, and learn for as long as we are living in this body.
Although there is no rigid format, there are key elements woven throughout the 8 weeks.
Learn what pain actually is — and what it isn’t. Understand movement patterns and why compensation patterns happen, and how they can shift.
Everything offered in class supports the brain and nervous system.
Real change only happens when the system feels safe enough to allow it.
You will practice the art and skill of listening to your body’s unique language.
Through practices and tools, we explore both our internal and external environments, and why mismatches between the two can lead to tension, pain, or exhaustion.
A variety of movement inputs are offered to provide the brain with new information so that outputs like pain, tension, breath holding, and movement patterns can change.
No muscle or joint works in isolation — the body is always a whole system.
We will:
Zoom in to explore specific joints and movements
Zoom out into full-body movement
Integrate these changes into everyday life
