I can say that Yoga changed the trajectory of my life and Yoga Therapy opened doors that gave me my life.
I lived with chronic pain for decades. I found myself caught in a cycle of seeking relief from endless therapies hoping each time that it was the fix. Relief was always short term. My pain always returned. I felt alone. I felt broken. Pain affected the entire fabric of my life. My world got smaller and smaller. I was afraid to try new activities. I took things off my list. I didn’t feel strong.
In my professional work as a massage therapist, I was seeing these same patterns in my clients. Many were caught in the cycle of temporary relief followed by recurring symptoms, rinse and repeat. I knew there was a missing piece in the pain puzzle.
Enter pure movement…..I had a teacher introduce me to the concept of pure movement patterns versus compensatory ones. I had to slow things down, which was really hard. I had to cultivate curiosity about my movements, my breath and my thoughts. From a place of awareness (this is KEY!) and lots of love, I slowly began shedding old patterns that no longer supported me while training and nurturing new supportive ones.
I continue to grow my capacity and increase my vitality. My journey inspires me to support others on their healing path.
I am a lifelong student, both on my mat and in the classroom. Teaching is a way for me to share what I am learning and experiencing, by nature it evolves and grows, which is the dynamic movement of life.
